Phase 1 - Launch of Total Access PATH Payment (TAPP) Open Payment Pilot

December 2023

PATH deploys the initial TAPP turnstiles at Journal Square and 33 Street stations. Additional TAPP turnstiles planning to be deployed throughout December.

 

Phase 2 - Expansion of Total Access PATH Payment (TAPP) Open Payment Pilot

Starting in January 2024

Complete: PATH expands TAPP to all stations. Riders with qualifying disabilities can apply for the TAPP Reduced Fare Program.

 

Phase 3 - Launch of TAPP Card and TAPP Vending Machines

In progress: TAPP Vending Machines rolled out to stations in phases for testing. // To be determined: TAPP Card available for purchase online.

 

Phase 4 - Ending the acceptance of SmartLink and MetroCard

PATH will provide advance notice so SmartLink and MetroCard users have sufficient time to use balances on these fare media.
