TAPP Reduced Fare Programs
We are accepting reduced fare applications from PATH riders with disabilities and from PATH riders ages 65 and older. Approved riders are eligible to pay a reduced fare equal to half of PATH’s full fare.
Existing Senior SmartLink cardholders who wish to use their own personal contactless debit or credit card on the TAPP system to pay the senior fare, must complete this form to Transfer PATH Senior SmartLink Card to TAPP Open Payment.

Phase 1 - Launch of Total Access PATH Payment (TAPP) Open Payment Pilot
December 2023
PATH deploys the initial TAPP turnstiles at Journal Square and 33 Street stations. Additional TAPP turnstiles planning to be deployed throughout December.
Phase 2 - Expansion of Total Access PATH Payment (TAPP) Open Payment Pilot
Starting in January 2024
Complete: PATH expands TAPP to all stations. Riders with qualifying disabilities can apply for the TAPP Reduced Fare Program.
Phase 3 - Launch of TAPP Card and TAPP Vending Machines
December 2025
The TAPP Card is available for purchase online and from blue dispensers at every PATH station. The TAPP Card can also be purchased from TAPP Vending Machines, which are being phased in throughout the PATH system. For a limited time only, you can get a $5.00 fare credit for registering your purchased TAPP Card.
Phase 4 - Ending the acceptance of SmartLink and MetroCard

PATH will provide advance notice so SmartLink and MetroCard users have sufficient time to use balances on these fare media.
